If you have a terrace or a perimeter wall in your garden, take a good look at the top of the wall. What is more likely is that you see a piece of stone, marble or tile, and just below, those unsightly black spots, drips, dirt, or moisture to ruin completely the painting of the facade.

What exactly is a packsaddle or cubremuros?

Technically, a packsaddle (also called cubremuros) is the part of the auction which is placed in the upper part of the exterior walls or plates of the terraces. Its main function is two-fold:

Waterproof: Prevents the rain water to seep directly into the interior of the wall (which would end in spats mortar or causing leaks).
Divert the water (drip cap): Your design should stand out a couple of inches to each side of the wall and include a small lip down (drip cap). So, when it rains, water drips directly into the ground instead of sliding along the wall, protecting the paint from the typical drips black dirt.

The problem of the cubremuros traditional (Stone, Marble, or Work)

Traditionally, the copings were made of artificial stone, marble or ceramic tiles. Although they fulfil their function at the beginning, have serious problems with the passage of time:
